Salaam Baalak Trust
In 1988, we began to discover the world of street children. The harsh,
raw, underbelly of the city and yet, it was a life they had chosen, in preference to a home and family which had obviously become entirely intolerable.
There was so much missing form their lives – food, security, health, love, education. All these, we urged ourselves, they needed. Also, a place to play and to dream.
All children must dream, of better days, of happier times.
It is this chance that the SALAAM BAALAK TRUST aims to provide. At
our 9 centers across Delhi, we try to create a sense of belonging, and secure spaces where dreaming is possible.
Sometime, we can make the dreams come true. Simple dreams – of warmth at night, of a hot, cooked meal, of someone to dress a wound and hold a hand when it hurts. And less simple one – an education, a job, a monthly salary, four walls to call your own, above all a future, for the future is what children represent.
Through our Help Line over 5000 children have been returned home and we have provided services to over 50,000 children.
Whatever the SALAAM BAALAK TRUST can do – it will be a fraction of what all children deserve. Please help us to do more.

Our children have been successful as computer software designers, photographers, actors, city guides, tailors, factory apprentices, in restaurants, hotels and their only limitations are the opportunities provided.
Our children have been employed by Pizza Hut, Park Hotels, Café Coffee Day, matrix clothing, Paushak, Interface, Renuka Exports, Ishara Puppet Theatre Trust.

City Walk
Nobody knows Delhi’s streets better then the young people who will be your guides! The streets were their only home until Salaam Baalak Trust offered them a chance for a new life.
Walk into the street life of Delhi
Now fully trained as guides, these spirited youngsters will share their personal stories of freedom and survival and take you on an insider’s walk of the colorful street – life in and around New Delhi Railway station and Phar Ganj.
The walk also gives you a feel for life here in yester – year and you some of the opportunities the Trust provides for street children.
